solo projects
MixNote is a pastebin in Python on Google App Engine. MixNote can also host web pages and other data.
Vortices, a social news and microblogging site. Built with server-side JavaScript. Features tagging, nested threads, dynamic sorting, and rich media.
Files host. Includes tagging and user registration.
I wrote Facebook DARK, a CSS user style that alters the appearance of facebook.com. With over a quarter million installs, it is the 7th most installed user style of all time. I rewrote it 3 times in response to changes to Facebook's layout. Fed up with the back and forth cycle, I scrapped the bulk of it, substituting a wildcard rule that is layout agnostic and therefore future-proof.
Web Games I wrote
Deftory! is a text-mode probabilistic battle game. Browser local storage saves progress between visits.
Monoprism: solo entry in Google's HTML5 Hackathon. WebGL with Three.js for 3D graphics. Simulated real estate agents walk around, buying skyscrapers. Features lighting and dynamic camera.
MeshMaze: A labyrinth in your web browser. This is achieved through a combination of SVG and JavaScript with jQuery; levels stored in JSON.
Each room is a maze littered with color-coded gates and keys. Push blocks, open gates with matching keys, step on land mines, and teleport to other levels. The code allows flexibility in how objects appear and behave.
About Me
I strongly believe in the web. It has trivialized information dispersal, maximizing free expression. RESTful APIs enable spontaneous cooperation.
However, many sites featuring perfectly fine content are saddled with poor design. I take every opportunity to make text readable and navigation simple.
The extension facilities of web browsers bring a pipe dream of customization to fruition. This takes a default interface and melds it with expanded expectations. Web developers can later incorporate concepts from popular extensions into their sites to respond to market demand and benefit the majority who browse without extensions.
Outside of coding, I listen to and write music. I have released 2 albums of electronic music under the name Vezquex.
